Colour me beautiful

IF you never have time for facials or just can't waste hours preening the face, chromotherapy may just be your cup of tea.

Chromotherapy is the latest technology from Japan that enhances the skin and tones facial muscles at the same time.

At bluunis, you can experience the magic of chromotherapy via the highly recommended chromo scrub and chromo lift facial package.

It uses colour to create balance in the body and generates energy to improve healing.

According to senior beautician Chrystina Lim at bluunis, the package is ideal for those on the go, as the results are similar to a two-hour facial.

"With this facial lift, customers will notice their skin is smoother due to better absorption of skincare products," said Lim.

Customers are recommended specialised treatments only after a personal consultation with a Beauty Impressionist to ensure effective and visible results from the treatment.

First, the face is cleansed with a milk cleanser. All products used are by Histomer, based on Histomeric Cell extracts from plants. They are thus suitable for those with sensitive skin.

Next, the chromo scrub is applied as part of the exfoliation process. This deeply cleanses the pores and removes dead skin cells and dirt thoroughly.

Chromo lift, the highlight of the facial, makes use of two machines. The first is a metal plate with a red light on one side and blue on the other.

The red light enhances blood circulation to help regenerate new cells while the blue ray soothes skin, heals acne and maintains the skin's PH balance.

As the metal plate comes into contact with the skin, the therapist adds distilled water on the face to increase moisture as the plate can be harsh on the skin.

The Chromo lift machine is then applied. It smoothens wrinkles and fine lines, and firms facial muscles while restoring the skin's elasticity.

After the Chromo lift, a cold seaweed mask is applied to soothe the skin. The seaweed mask from the Organic Masquerapy range is Swiss-formulated. There is a choice of facial and skin masks made from different natural ingredients including seaweed, green tea, vegetal charcoal and chlorophyll for skin to release stress, revitalise, detoxify, moisturise, hydrate, reaffirm, replenish and refine pores.

Next, the moisturiser is applied and a scalp massage is performed. After the treatments, you'd notice smoother skin and your laugh lines appear less visible.

What is Chromotherapy?

It is also known as colour therapy or colorology. Research shows that specific colours bring balance to our physical and emotional systems.

It can also be an alternative to Chinese acupuncture, achieving the same results as unblocking energy points without the discomfort of needles.

Here are some of the effects of colours on the body:

Green calms the nervous system, fights irritability, insomnia and can assist in recovery from nervous breakdowns.

Red affects the heart by increasing pulse rate and can help develop excitement and sensuality.

Blue has anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxing effects, and fights physical and mental tension and is used to assist in relaxation.

Yellow purifies the blood, helps digestion, and has a cleansing effect. It strongly stimulates happiness, brings on a sense of security, as well as a feeling of well-being.

White provides energy and balances chronobiological rhythm by stimulating the production of serotonin, a substance which regulates both sleep and the nervous system. It rebalances the psychophysical and hormonal systems in people who suffer from seasonal depression.
